Social Intelligence Genomics & Empathy-Building

Objective

Confirm and extend research linking genetic profile and social intelligence

Description

Examine whether individuals with certain genetic profiles may have a greater natural capacity for social intelligence. Review SNPs in the OXTR, DRD2, COMT, and BDNF genes which have been associated with optimism and empathy, extraversion, and altruism. Use standard academic indicators to gauge social intelligence.

FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND INTERVENTION: If you would like to participate in the Personal Virtual Coach intervention for empathy-building, please send an email from a GMAIL address to cathylesterdiy@gmail.com.

Day 1: Empathy Quotient

melanie

melanie of course, thanks!!

melanie

melanie Early results! While over 20 participants have contributed genetic data or completed the surveys, only 10 have done both. The trend is not what would be expected, that genotypes AA and AG have lower empathy scores than GG but the numbers are too low to be conclusive yet.

Westr Melanie- refresh my memory. Which gene is this for, and which genotype is most empathic?

Westr Melanie- refresh my memory. Which gene is this for, and which genotype is most empathic?

Westr

Westr Sorry, now I think I see- oxytocin receptor, for which I'm GG (presumably more empathic)?

melanie

melanie yes, that is correct

Westr

Westr Thanks!

melanie

melanie the individual values

melanie

melanie more analysis with n=16 genomic + survey participants, indicating that GG genotypes for oxytocin receptor OXTR rs53576 scored higher on empathy surveys
