Knowledge generation through self-experimentation

Objective

To characterize the knowledge derived from quantified self-type individual and group studies

Description

To validate self-experimentation studies as an important complement to traditional clinical trials, it is necessary to have both scientifically-valid results and a social context for understanding their role and impact.

As a self-experimenter, you are asked to reflect on your experience and complete a questionnaire. Genetic data is requested (optional) that has been linked to personality traits such as risk-taking, but the main focus is the questionnaire.

This project is being operated by DIYgenomics with advisors from the Philosophy Departments at Stanford University and Foothill College with the intent of submitting the results to a philosophy journal, and acknowledging self-experimenters by name or not as specified in the questionnaire.

Inclusion Criteria

Participation in a self-experimentation project in any area including health, time-management, stress-reduction, nutrition/exercise/sleep optimization, etc.
Complete the online questionnaire (10-15 min) in Google Docs.

wreinhardt

wreinhardt Good questions, I referred several times to model studies that I wanted to emulate and how that helped me learn.
